Land use is one of the major problems in some of the villages in India. For eg., befor 50 years the soil would have had the sufficient nutrients to give high yields for a particular crop. Due to the use of Inorganic fertilizers the nature of the soil would have changed to a large extent and now the same land may not be suitable to cultivate the same crop which was planted 50 years ago. This becomes a problem for the poor farmers. They are not educated to plant which crop at which time.
My humble suggestion is that the governments should test the soil in all agricultural fields once in three years and tell the farmers that this soil is now having this much of nutrients and hence they can go for such anf such crops which which will grow under the new conditions and also the benefits of the same. Rich farmers can also be involved in this exercise.
If we do not waste safe drinking water then it is going to benefit all of us. We can also think of rain water harvesting in each and every house and in institutions. Using nanotechnology we can reduce the evaporation of water and the saved water can be used as safe drining water during summer seasons to some extent.
Efficient usage of water should form one of the agendas in the forum which should be easily understood by the grass root people and illiterate ones.

Dear Diana,
As we all know rainwater is the purest form of water on our earth. It can be used mainly for drinking purposes even after a long period of storage. If it is in excess we can use it for other domestic purposes also.
Wastage of pure drinking water is one of the major problems in some villages which operate with the old pipelines and motors to suck ground water. The wasted water is never regained.
Research should be carried out to convert sea water into drinking water.
Open defacation should be stopped in all pats of the world, especially in INDIA. Citizens should be aware of the health hazards of open defacation. This alone should form one of the agendas in the discussion forum because it involves water also.
