Glauco Kimura de Freitas

BSC in Ecology, MSc

Glauco Kimura de Freitas is an Ecologist from the University of São Paulo, with more than 20 years of experience on freshwater management and biodiversity conservation. With 15 years of experience with NGO’s he has worked in The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and recently has worked for the government in Federal District Regulatory Agency for Water, Basic Sanitation and Energy (ADASA). He holds a title of specialist in management and planning of protected areas by the Colorado State University in 2002 and specialist on watershed management by the UNESCO IHE in 2007, Netherlands. In 2006, Glauco won the World Meteorological Organization Prize for Young Scientists as the co-author of a scientific article on environmental flows.

Camilla Hellen Peixoto de Lima

Environmental engineer, MSc

Camilla Hellen Peixoto de Lima is an Environmental Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Environment, Water and Sanitation. She is a Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering in the field of Water Resources and Environment at Rio de Janeiro Federal University/COPPE, where she conducts a research about environmental flows. For the past 7 years, she worked with research related to water quality, assessment of the hydrological impact of dams, and rain-flow modelling. Camilla is an active member of the Brazilian National Youth Parliament for Water and the Task Force of the World Youth Parliament for Water. As a member of OMA-BRASIL NGO, she worked within a technical chamber of the Guandu River Basin Committee in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Hamza Ozgule

Hydrologist; MSc in Environmental Science

He received his B.Sc. Degree from Department of Meteorological Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, in 1984. He has received MSc degree from the Environmental Department of Hacettepe University, Ankara. Having more than 25 years of professional experience in a state organization, DSI, his engineering specialisation area mainly includes project hydrology, water resources assessment, planning and management, environmental impact assessment as well. He has played a critical role in preparatory process and structuring of the 5th World Water Forum. Hamza Ozgüler served as national focal point for the Programme Committee. In addition to this, he served as the regional coordinator for the Regional Process of the “In and Around Turkey”which is one of the 7 regions available in the framework of the Regional Process of 5th World Water Forum. After retirement from DSI, he has been dealing with project hydrology as a senior hydrologist. Presently, he is serving for water resources planning and designing of hydraulic structures.

Malu Ribeiro

Bachelor in Public Communication and Policy

Malu hold a Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Public Policy and Water Management. She Coordinates the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation Water Network, a programme that monitors water quality in rivers and river basins of the Atlantic Forest biome in Brazil, in 12 States and the Federal District. She is also a counselor at the São Paulo State Water Council.

Susan Lisa Toch

Ph.D in Water Resources Science and Environmental Health

Dr. Susan Lisa Toch has 25 years experience in ecosystem hydrology, water resources management and community health. Specializing in the connections between land use, water quality and human health in drinking water supplies, her integrated and multi-cultural background in Water Resources Science and Environmental Health includes a Ph.D. and an M.P.H from University of California, Berkeley, with certifications in Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease through Louisiana State University Medical School, and the University of Costa Rica. Dr. Toch is also a trained forester, and an active member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) Commissions on Conservation Education, and Ecosystem Management. Her numerous works related to watershed management and human welfare include “Water to Drink”, the DVD “Water & Music” and projects from fresh water to marine environments through art, music and storytelling.
