Drs. Alice M. Bouman-Dentener

Alice is a biologist specialized in sustainable development policy, water governance and gender issues. She laid the foundation for the Women for Water Partnership (WfWP), which under her Presidency developed into the leading global women’s civil society network in the water and sustainable development domain with a rank and file in close to 100 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, Europe and the USA. After leaving the Women for Water Partnership in 2014, she was granted the title of Honorary Founding President.
Alice has served the Global Water Partnership (GWP) from 2010 - 2016 as Steering Committee Member, Vice-Chair and Chair ad interim. Currently, she is the Vice President of the Water Research and Training Centre of Myanmar (WRTC), chairs the Members Council of the European Water Stewardship (EWS) and is member of the Advisory Board of Gender Concerns International (GCI).  Alice Bouman-Dentener holds a degree in Natural Science from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She was proclaimed Action Hero of the UN Water for Life Decade and received a Knight ship in the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2016.
