One more preparatory process for the 8th World Water Forum has been concluded. The 2nd Stakeholders Consultation Meeting received about 800 participants from several countries aiming at developing action plans for the thematic panels to be presented at the World Forum, whose overarching theme is “Sharing Water”. The event took place at Ulysses Guimaraes Convention Center, in Brasilia, on April 26th and 27th.
In order to determine the preliminary content of the event, the preparatory meeting promoted debates on the core themes and cross-cutting topics that will be discussed during the Forum. Representatives of governments, companies, financial institutions, universities and NGOs attended the meeting. During the event, the participants evaluated the Forum’s preparation and discussed important issues related to each Forum process.
The 2nd Stakeholder Meeting was held about one year before the Forum, which is scheduled for March 18th to 23rd, 2018, in Brasilia. This meeting is a follow-up to the Kick-Off Meeting, an event organized last June in the federal capital to officially begin the preparations for the World Water Forum. This has also worked as the 1st Stakeholders Consultation Meeting.
Following the Kick-Off, the Stakeholders Consultation Meeting was an opportunity for the commission coordinators involved in the Forum organization (Thematic Process, Political Process, Regional Process, Citizen’s Forum, and Sustainability Focus Group) to assess how the contents have evolved since 2016. The participants could also give their opinion about the thematic session themes.
